The students, who started their new education period at the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Health Sciences, wore their white coats during the ceremonies on October 7 and 8 that took place in groups within the framework of pandemic measures.
University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, general secretary, deans, institute directors, vocational school directors, chief physicians, faculty members, students and families attended the ceremony, after the students entered the ceremonial hall with round of applause, which followed by a moment of silence and the National Anthem.

University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, during his speech that started by greeting the participants, emphasized that the students who has been join the Faculty of Health Sciences in order to reach their dreams after their hard work will receive education from a staff of distinguished academicians.
Noting that the Grand Library, which has recently added to the University of Kyrenia facilities, provides an important opportunity for students to do better research, Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu expressed his gratitude by pointing out the importance of the continuous support given by the Günsel family.

Dean of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Bekir Uğur Ergür: “The white coat evokes honesty, cleanliness and hope”
Starting his speech by greeting the guests, Dean of the University of Kyrenia Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Bekir Uğur Ergür addressed the newly registered students and said that they are honoured that students have chosen University of Kyrenia and reminded that the English Nursing Department accepted students for the first time this year.
Stating that reaching quality health care is one of the basic needs of societies today, Prof. Dr. Ergür noted that with the training they will receive from a qualified staff who are experts in their fields, they would become competent individuals who respect their profession and aware of the ethical values.
Prof. Dr. Bekir Uğur Ergür continued his words as follows: “The white coat evokes honesty, cleanliness and hope. With the White Coat Ceremony, we try to make our students feel the value of both themselves and the profession they will be a member of and we will do our best all together with all our academic staff. I would like to express my gratitude to the Günsel family and the Board of Trustees, who have always been with us throughout this process. On this occasion, I believe that we should mention the names of the first Turkish nurse Safiye Hüseyin and the first Turkish Cypriot Head Nurse Türkan Aziz.”
